The SW Regional Australian Spoons took place at Long Sutton GC on 19th June . There were 35 pairs competing who enjoyed a lovely sunny day with a slight wind on the Somerset Levels.
The day flowed well thanks to the help of Somerset referees Gordon Phillips and Zena Balcombe who were there to help with any queries. In fact Zena suffered a near miss from a golf ball which landed in the buggy bumper area!
Zena took the challenge to identify the precise point to mark her ball by crawling on hands and knees to reach beneath the buggy!
All the ladies were smiling when they returned their cards for checking and inputting. The atmosphere was great inside and outside the clubhouse. I was delighted so many had stayed for the short presentation at the end including all the prize winners. Results have been emailed and will replace the start sheet on the visitors page of the Long Sutton website (a link to which is shown on the button above)
Thank you to the whole team at Long Sutton who helped make the day so enjoyable. Particular thanks to the Lady Captain Christine Turner who stayed for the whole day. Thank you also to Jean Booth from Burnham & Berrow GC who not only helped before the event but again stayed all day and took some great photos.
